In an attempt to change mobility habits and reduce emissions, the University of Algarve will provide 100 free shared-bicycles to the academic community.
Eco Bike, a bicycle-sharing scheme developed by the University of the Algarve will be inaugurated tomorrow, providing one hundred bicycles to their students, teachers, researchers and employees.
The bicycles were acquired under the Environmental Funds of the government, in an attempt to change mobility habits and encourage physical exercise. Helping society to become healthier and more environmentally-friendly.
These bicycles can be used at no charge and temporarily, being the user the responsible individual for the Eco Bike. The system will also count with periodical surveys in order to improve the service and keep track of users’ comfort.
Complementarily, a cycling interactive app is being developed that will present maps of the safest roads in Faro for cyclists.
