Four million euros from the Portugal 2020 programme will be directed to the Algarve, with the aim of increasing energy efficiency.
The government announced the distribution of the 101 million euros coming from the Portugal 2020 plan to improve energy efficiency. Of the total amount, 24.5 million euros will go to businesses, 32.5 million euros go to Private Social Solidarity Institutions, 19 million euros for regional councils and 25 million for social housing buildings.
This funding aims to develop rural and poorer areas, and it is distributed accordingly to all the regions in the country. The Algarve receives a total of four million euros. This investment will help improve the Algarve’s energy efficiency, as a part of the National Energy and Climate Plan, promoting the decarbonisation of the economy and the energy transition towards carbon neutrality in the next thirty years.
This programme is based on a model of territorial unity that improves wealth creation and the efficient use of resources. The investment will help companies and municipalities in the installation of more efficient technologies, replacing regular cars with electric or natural gas vehicles, or installing solar panels and other renewable energy sources.
