The heteronym of Fernando Pessoa, Álvaro de Campos, will be celebrated throughout the months of October and November in Glasgow and Tavira
Residents and visitors of Tavira are in for a treat during the months of October and November, as several activities will take place celebrating the work of poet Álvaro de Campos, a heteronym of Fernando Pessoa, who was “born” in Tavira in 1890 and “worked” as a naval engineer in Glasgow.
His work will be remembered through concerts, art exhibitions, poetry reading and several performances in town. There will also be events in schools and restaurants, and even the local Tuk Tuk services will get involved in the celebration of the work of Pessoa.
Since 2015, resident Tela Leão from the Partilha Alternativa Associação has been bringing together local and International artists for this event. The aim is to create in the city of Tavira a repertoire that celebrates the work of Fernando Pessoa and of Álvaro de Campos.
