The Opening Gala of “FOLKFARO 2019” – Cultures and Rhythms of the World, will be held at Teatro das Figuras in Faro, on August 17, Saturday at 9.30 pm.
In FolkFaro, the traditions of the world are expressed through music and dance. The organization of the Folkloric Group of Faro is one of the most awaited events in the cultural summer of the Algarve capital and already has the 17th edition. The Opening Gala at the Teatro das Figuras is an opportunity given to groups from the four corners of the world, to make their debut in the main hall of shows in the Algarve.
The FolkFaro was, moreover, distinguished with the Prémio Figuras, attributed by the Municipal Theater of Faro in 2015. The festival runs from August 17 to 25, being the only one to the south of the Tagus, certified by CIOFF® – an international organization with formal consultative relations with UNESCO. In Faro and a bit throughout the region, parades and street entertainments, dance workshops, shows in the parishes and neighbouring municipalities, special programs for children, the elderly and prisoners and ecumenical celebration complete a diversified program.
