Strikes against tourism management scheduled for this Summer.

Workers ask for better conditions in the Hospitality sector. Overtimes and housing crisis are also an issue. From June to August three strikes are scheduled.

After protests last week at the Hotel Faro, two more strikes are planned to upset tourism in the region this summer. The next one is happening on June 29, at Clube Praia da Oura and Oura Praia Hotel, in Albufeira.

Workers ask for better conditions in their area, such as higher salaries and shorter working times. Extra hours and poor working conditions in exhausting jobs have come to be the rule in several Algarvian services provided for tourists and expatriates.

As rents keep going up and housing prices increase, several locals working in the hospitality sector are forced out of their cities.

A greater strike set for the 1st of August is expected to have the biggest impact on tourists, according to the Hospitality Union.
