Occupancy rate decreased in Algarve while the British market increased

There were more British tourists, but fewer Germans and Dutch in Algarve during May, a month marked by a decline of 1.8%  in the overall average occupancy rate/room of accommodation units in the region.

In its already traditional monthly summary of the evolution of tourism in the region, the Association of Hotels and Tourism Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA) revealed that the occupancy rate stood at 69.8% in May 2019.

According to the business association, the markets that most contributed to the decrease were the German (-29.6%), and the Dutch (-29.3%). The British market registered a 6% increase.
