The algarvian municipality joins the worldwide awareness act promoted by World Wildlife Found
Next Saturday, March 30 between 8.30 and 9.30 pm, the Municipality of Loulé will switch off the lights of several buildings and public spaces of the city in the well-known Earth Hour promoted by the WWF.
Louletano Theatre, the Walls of the Castle, Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco building and Paços de Concelho are some public spaces that will be out for sixty minutes.
Earth Hour is the biggest act of its kind, starting in Australia and going across the globe.
The Municipality has vowed to take some actions such as turning off all devices after working hours, adquiring electric vehicles and preparing charging points for electric vehicles.
Earth Hour began in 2007, in Sydney, where more than two million people and two thousand companies switch off their lights as a measure agains climate change.
Throughout the years it became an International movement in favour of sustainability with more than 135 countries joining in.
Well known places such as the Roman Coliseum, Toronto’s Tower and the Golden State Bridge are a part of this event, disappearing for an hour in the darkness for this urgent cause.
