The Faro Maritime Police seized a total of 17 bags of immature cockle – a total of half a ton – on February 4th, which were returned to their natural habitat.
According to the National Maritime Authority, the operation had “three agents of the Maritime Police supported by two of their vessels, with the collaboration of two members of the Port Authority of Faro.”
In recent days, the Faro Maritime Police has carried out several inspection operations aimed at detecting the illegal sequestering of bivalves, as well as for the eventual detection of the species of sea horses.
