Algarve Cup – women’s football passes through Albufeira

Albufeira is part of the Algarve Cup calendar, the women’s football event that brings together the best athletes in the world. This year the Municipal Stadium of Albufeira will host two games. March 1st will be the stage of the debut of Portugal against Sweden.

The 26th edition of the Algarve Cup, which runs from February 27th to March 6th, will bring to Algarve the best international women’s football teams. Portugal, Canada, Iceland, Scotland, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Norway, Denmark, China, Sweden and Switzerland will compete in several lawns in the region.

In Albufeira, the Municipal Stadium hosts two matches. The team of the teams, in group D, will face the selection of Sweden on March 1 at 4:45 p.m. China will compete against Norway in Group C with a game scheduled for 13.15.

The two teams with the best classification of the three groups in the competition will play in the final, on 7 March.

This sports initiative, also known as Mundialito de Futebol Feminino, brings to the region not only the elite of this modality, but also the most renowned referees of the day.

Vila Real de Santo António with new regulations for caravanning

The new Municipal Regulation for the Exercise of Autocaravan Activity in the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António is already in force. The document regulates the regime of motor caravan activities and seeks to clarify and order the parking, parking and the presence of motorhomes on the public highway.

The regulation also seeks to regulate the presence and abusive parking of motor homes in the public places of the municipality, especially on the sea fronts or near the beaches, which in recent years has limited the turnover and quantity of places in bathing areas, generating situations of conflict with the uses and activities allowed.

The legislation also refers to authorized VRSA sites in the municipality of VRSA, namely: the Monte Gordo Municipal Camping Park, the VRSA River Front Parking Area (wall), and the Sea Front Parking Space from Manta Rota Beach.

Likewise, car parking will only be allowed for the purpose of staying in the legally assigned places, and the local authority will also proceed to the placement of new complementary signs in the car parks, in order to comply with the regulations and make the rules clear.

According to the provisions, the misconduct will be punishable by fines, and supervision will be carried out by the competent services of the City Council, police authorities and other police and administrative entities.

Women entrepreneurship in focus in São Brás de Alportel

“Partnerships can grow your business?” Is the theme of the “Empreender no Feminino 2019” meeting that the Algarve Women’s Business Network promotes, in partnership with the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, this Thursday, February 28, to from 6:30 p.m., at the Arts and Crafts Center of São Brás de Alportel.

An initiative that seeks to bring together women entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs to talk about business and how partnerships can grow the most diverse business projects and to which the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel has partnered as a partner.

The Algarve Women’s Business Network (AWBN) was born of women’s willingness to cooperate with each other. It aims to be the bridge between women in the labor market and seeks to approach them, create synergies and cooperation.

To this end, the group has been promoting various events aimed at bringing together, exchanging contacts and publicizing business among women entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurs.

Algarve hosts Downhill Portugal Cup

On Saturday, the track begins to fill with speed and adrenaline with the official training. But it is on Sunday that the competitive day begins – the qualifying round is scheduled for 11.00, with the final scheduled for 14:30.

Listen to jazz while tasting wines in Silves

Consolidating the event as a reference in the cultural panorama of the Algarve, the third edition of Jazz in the Wineries – in Portuguese: Jazz nas Adegas -, began in 2018 and will be extended until May 2019.

This activity, organized by the Municipality of Silves, is part of the cultural program 365 Algarve and has artistic production of the Clube de Faro. The initiative aims to promote the cultural places where the famous Silves Wines are produced, in a symbiosis between wine, its producer and music, providing a unique experience to the public, in places unusual for the presentation of a Jazz concert.

The festival is already going on two editions of crowded cellars, but the great news for the 2018/2019 Jazz in the Wineries cycle has been the increase of its offer and the surprises. In addition to the number of sessions that tripled for a total of 24 sessions,
jazz and wine are linked to the new identity values ​​of Silves: cork, poetry and monumental heritage.

The concerts are accompanied by tastings of the wines produced by the host wineries, and also include the tasting of tapas of local products, in a concept of recognized success that marks the quality cultural offer in the low season of tourist demand for the Algarve.

Festival “Encontros do Devir” starts in Loulé

The Loulé film-theater hosts the Encontros do Devir Festival on 23 February, which begins with the concert of Angolan activist Luaty Beirão, “Ikoqwe” and Batida (Portuguese project Pedro Coquenão).

On the same day, there will be a colloquium “Report on the present, discussing the future” to be held at Solar da Música Nova Auditorium, at 3:30 PM, and to the exhibition “De(a)Nunciar , Aleixo Hoje” by José Laginha, artistic director of the Festival, who deal with contemporary issues, local and international, according to the creator, deserve the interest and attention of the poet Antonio Aleixo, if he were our contemporary. The show is featured in the Art Gallery of the Convento do Espírito Santo, in Loulé.

At Cine-Teatro Louletano the last performance will take place on May 11. “Le Terrier” is a creation of one of the greats of current contemporary dance, Samuel Lefreuvre and Florence Demestri (Belgium).

45º Volta ao Algarve – stage 4 in Tavira

The Algarve was voted the Best Destination of the World for foreigners and retirees in 2019 by Life and Invest Overseas, a US publication; Best European Region in Tourism and Gastronomy 2018, distinction awarded by the European Council of Food and Wine Confraternities (CEUCO); Best Restaurant of High Gastronomy – Vila Joya Restaurant Hotel (Albufeira), in the World Travel Awards 2018; and Best Beach Destination at the 2017 World Travel Awards. He also received three Golf Awards from the World Golf Awards. But the Algarve is also about cycling that since 20 February has put the Algarve, and who visits the Algarve, with their eyes on bicycles.

According to Volta ao Algarve, the 168 runners in the competition will be followed by 120 media professionals in a live broadcast competition for 121 countries.


The media interest is brought on, by the presence of 12 of the 18 WorldTour teams and 20 top 100 world runners, four of them from the top 20. The roster has strong men for all-terrain – top-flight, counter-clock and sprints.
The first to shine should be the sprinters, at the end of the first and longest stage of the competition, to compete on Wednesday, between Portimão and Lagos, for 199.1 kilometres.


Among the riders to take into account for the first rides, are Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen (Team Jumbo-Visma), winner in Lagos last year, Arnaud Démare (Groupama-FDJ), Christophe Laporte (Cofidis, Solutions Credit), Fabio Jakobsen Deceuninck-Quick Step), Edvald Boasson Hagen (Team Dimension Data), Jasper Philipsen (UAE Team Emirates), John Degenkolb (Trek-Segafredo), Matteo Malucelli (RGA), Pascal Ackermann (Bora- Dupont (Wanty-Gobert Cycling Team).

The Algarve Post was on the fourth day of the Volta ao Algarve, in Tavira, where the Tavira population gathered heartily to welcome the cyclists. Dylan Groenewegen (Team Jumbo Visma) won this fourth stage, connecting Albufeira to Tavira, totalling 198.3 kilometres.

The best Portuguese of the day was Samuel Caldeira (W52-FC Porto), who registered a 15th place.

Overall, the yellow jersey remains with the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates), although he lost a two second advantage to the second on Saturday. Pogacar has a 29-second lead for Denmark’s Soren Kragh (Team Sunweb) and 30 for the Dutch Wout Poels (Team Sky). the Spaniard Enric Mas (Deceunick), previous second, fell to fourth.

Amaro Antunes (CCC Team) continues to be the best player of the general, following in 10th, 2m36s of the leader.

Quarteira promotes free training for volunteering with elderly people

“Ethics and relationship with seniors in volunteering is the theme of the training action promoted by the Parish Council of Quarteira and the Health Platform in Dialogue, within the scope of the Isolated Elderly Program of Quarteira, held on March 1 from 7:00 p.m. at 9 pm, in the Auditorium of the Autarchic Center.

The objective of the project is to sensitize the community to volunteer with older people. The themes to be addressed will be historical contextualization, the law of volunteering, volunteer work and volunteering with the elderly, according to a note from the parish council of Quarteira.

The Isolated Elderly Program is a social project of the Parish Council of Quarteira in articulation with local institutions that aims to signal the population over 65 years of age, isolated geographically and/or socially, identifying their needs and fragility, to an integrated way, to better respond to the challenges of aging.

Participation is free of charge, and compulsory registration must be made through the e-mail address velho.isolado@jf-quarteira.pt or in person at the Parish Council of Quarteira. In the end, participation certificates will be issued.

Carnival in the streets of Tavira

“Do not stay at home, join the party and have fun!”, is the invitation of the Municipality of Tavira, to all those who appreciate and do not enjoy the Carnival.

On March 1st, at 10:00 a.m., the Praça da República will fill with joy and color with the performance of the children’s carnival parade, which marks the beginning of several days of fun.

1,200 children from thirteen preschool establishments and 1st cycle of public and private primary education, will participate in the parade that appeals to creativity and to the individual imagination. Music, streamers, stationery and the most varied costumes will gladly fill everyone present.

But the animation does not stop here. Tavira will have, on 01, 02 and 04 of March, at 9.30 pm, at the Mercado da Ribeira, masked balls, and a lot of music:

Also, in the same space, on 05 May, between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., the matinee with Banda Versátil takes place, organized by Junta de Freguesia de Tavira. Adapted swimming brings world’s remark to Algarve

This weekend, the National Winter Championship of Adapted Swimming was held, with a total of 132 swimmers (97 men and 35 women) from a total of thirty-three national clubs. From Analgarve – Associação de Natação do Algarve – three clubs participated (O2 Portimão, Natação de Faro and FC Ferreiras), with a total of 8 swimmers (7 males and 1 females).

According to the Associação de Natação do Algarve, there were 25 swimmers who won medals, 21 gold, 3 silver and one bronze. But the victories did not end up here, especially the swimmer Filipe Santos (O2 Portimão), as World Record, European and National Class SM21 – SDown, obtained in the test of the 25 butterfly.

Still obtained national titles, swimmers Levi Nascimento, Alexandre Silva, João Pedro Antunes, as well as the courier 4x100m styles.
 

From Swimming Faro, the highlight goes to the swimmer, José Vieira, with the National record and Ana Beatriz Correia, with a national title.
